Sparta Township is located in northern Kent County, Michigan, about 17 minutes north of Grand Rapids and 30 minutes from the Lake Michigan shoreline.
The west half of Sparta Township is on the "Ridge", a prime fruit-growing area, with many acres of beautiful orchards.
At the center is the Village of Sparta, a thriving small town. The Rogue River runs through the east side of the township.
Sparta has a library, museum, airport, diverse industry, fire department, and an excellent school system. Established in 1846, Sparta Township's current population, including the Village, is 9,110 (per the 2010 census).

Thursday April 19 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM

It’s that time of the year again: the Village of Sparta and Sparta Township are holding their annual Spring Clean-Up. The drop off site is located behind the DPW garage at 276 W. Division.
Yard waste, large trash items (including a maximum of 4 tires per household), metal and appliances, batteries, propane tanks and some electronics WILL be accepted.
Household garbage, hazardous wastes (including paints, oils and other liquids), leaded glass or CRT TVs and monitors, construction material, and vehicles WILL NOT be accepted.
Residents are expected to unload their own stuff. Village and Township personnel will assist with unloading as much as possible. ID’s WILL BE CHECKED AT THE GATE.
